As the Senior Counsel - Buildings & Infrastructure Americas (BIA), you’ll provide counsel to operations and sales, acting as a legal advisor and business partner to leadership. The role will include significant, hands-on support of BIA sales and operational challenges, including project pursuits, contract negotiations, bid protests, project delivery support, subcontractor issues, claims and litigation management, corporate compliance, risk management, and internal training and education. This position will reside in the Jacobs Legal Department and will report to the lead attorney for the BIA Legal Team. As a legal advisor, you help our projects and programs move forward with confidence. While remote candidates will be considered, location in one of the key markets for this business (such as Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia or Atlanta) is preferred. * J.D. from accredited law school; State bar admission and good standing * At least 8 to 15 years prior experience including law firm and in-house experience, preferably including as in-house counsel with a large engineering, program management, and/or construction firm * Experience with legal support for one or more of the following: engineering, construction, field services (including environmental remediation), design-build/EPC/EPCM, operations & maintenance projects, services and product solutions * Experience with prime contract and subcontract negotiation * Experience with joint ventures (including teaming agreements) and LLCs, including counsel to corresponding boards of directors * Experience with professional liability, general liability, pollution, and builder’s risk insurance * Demonstrated ability to counsel senior management and business leaders * Demonstrated ability to counsel and lead contract management and procurement staff * Demonstrated ability to partner with business risk management leadership * Ability to work independently * Ability to manage competing demands * Ability to travel, as needed This position requires a high aptitude for and excellence in the following core competencies, amongst others: Legal skills: Accuracy and precision, legal drafting, legal research, outside counsel management, and risk awareness Strategic skills: Critical thinking, decision making and judgment, project management, strategic focus, workload management Collaboration skills: Communication skills, conflict navigation, knowledge management, team player, technology skills, ability to give practical and clear advice Client management skills: Business and analytical skills, business partnership, client advisory, responsiveness, solutions orientation Additional skills: Desire to grow personally and professionally, ability to work independently, leadership, networking, curiosity and a desire to learn, negotiation, vendor management, persuasiveness, and global perspective Ideally you will also have: * DBIA Certification #LI-MP1 Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
