SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the accurate preparation and reporting of all cost and other financial information for the plant.  This includes gathering and processing information to generate daily and weekly production cost reports, preparing weekly and monthly costs.  This position will assist in the preparation of the annual operations and capital budgets and is responsible for ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Tyson’s accounting policies.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate the plant self-audit program.  This program covers quarterly fixed asset audits, idle asset audits, and capitalization of fixed assets acquired through the CIR process, review of the purchase order process, inventory management reviews, and other areas as needed.Learn the Time and Attendance system to assist as backup for the weekly processing of payroll.Learn weekly processes to cover in the absence of the controller.  This includes understanding the weekly variances to be able to communicate explanations of variances, generate weekly spend file, and upload of data into the financial system.Analyze information compiled from different software sources readily available at TysonGenerate/create excel spreadsheets to find the information required for ad-hoc questions from the plant management team.Assist in generating the cost savings for projects based upon the savings for line efficiency, labor efficiency, usage, or capacity based on the data provided.Supporting weekly and monthly close activitiesReporting and providing insight to monthly operation resultsSupporting all production reporting and inventory functionsManaging standard costing (Maintaining accurate BOM’s and Standards)Reporting and analysis of Cost Savings and/or Cost reduction activitiesProviding financial analysis and cost estimates in support of new product development or cost reductionsParticipating in Annual Operating PlanAiding in preparation of financial forecasts

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field.

Experience: 

Finance and/or Cost Accounting experience. Preferably in the manufacturing industry.Knowledgeable in the areas of GAAP, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, General Ledger Accounting, Payroll, and SOX. 

Computer skills: 

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of SAP ERP systems.

Special skills: 

Strong leadership and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.Ability to adapt to new working environments.
