Job Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant performs various corporate accounting functions in accordance with GAAP. This role will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing entries and schedules to support timely and accurate financial reporting. Performs financial analysis, process improvement, audit functions, and various financial projects. The Senior Cost Account will report directly to the Accounting Manager and work closely with the FP&A team of the Manufacturing Subsidiary to achieve organizational objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Act as a resource to the Manufacturing Subsidiary to resolve general ledger issues and questions (coding, balancing, reports, etc.)Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and sub-ledgersPrepare journal entries Participate in monthly and annual closesPrepare schedules and analyses for annual audit Other duties as requested by the Controller and/or Management teamAdditional Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting or Business from four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.3-5 years of staff accounting experience preferredAbility to determine proper accounting treatment for transactions based on accounting principlesSkills
Ability to analyze and solve problems logicallyExcellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlinesPrior cost accounting experience including analysis, journal entries, and reconciliations.Experience with Microsoft suite products and strong understanding of Accounting ERP systemsStrong interpersonal skills and experience with cross-functional collaborationProfessional written and verbal communicationWillingness to work a flexible schedule in line with standard monthly close processesComputer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookAdvanced Excel skills, to include pivot tables, complex formulas, and linksMicrosoft Dynamics SL or Great Plains software experience preferredCertificates, Licenses, Registrations
