Reuters is seeking a Senior Correspondent to conduct and report on exclusive polls covering major and emerging economies from our newsroom in Bengaluru.
In this senior role, the candidate will be contributing to global macroeconomic and markets coverage, offering an opportunity to shape debate on closely-watched interest rate decisions, prospects for the regional economies, the global economy and important developments in financial markets.
The Reuters polls team takes a balanced big-picture approach to news developments, focusing on breaking trends and identifying where the path of least resistance is during times of change and uncertainty in policymaking and investing. Our proprietary survey data are respected around the world for their accuracy and consistency in quality.
We’re looking for someone fluent in the jargon of markets and central banks but who can explain what is happening in clear English and with authority.
About the role:
Help to lead Reuters proprietary polling coverage, including the consensus view on central bank interest rate decisions, economic data, as well as FX, bond and stock markets.Build relationships with economists, market strategists, investors and fund managers, academics and former policymakers to develop a deeper, more diverse source base for our polls and the news reporting around themReact quickly to breaking macroeconomic data, monetary policy signals and unexpected shocks, offering timely insight and analysis to the teamHelp shape the polling file with initiative pieces, thought-provoking trends, and sharp storytelling about what is most likely to happen and where the risks lieCollaborate with correspondents in other bureaus around the world on stories and pollsAbout you:
At least four years of experience as a correspondent or reporter, preferably covering economic policy or markets or bothPassion and drive around the big issues facing economic policy trends and how they affect people and marketsStrong writing skills, with a proven track record for accuracy and impartialityComfort juggling multiple tasks at once, including pitching in on snap polls reacting to news developmentsA collaborative spirit and willingness to mentor junior colleagues, guide polling coverage direction, and lead from the frontAn interest in and experience using AI for news coveragePrior polling experience and knowledge of polling methods is a plus but not essential#LI-SP1
