Position Statement:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to manage both general accounting and tax accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Egyptian accounting standards and tax laws, with a proven ability to maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.

This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and as part of a team, contributing to the financial health and regulatory compliance of the company.

 

Position Summary:

What will I be doing?

1.    General Accounting:
•    Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
•    Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and EAS.
•    Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
•    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) in accordance with EAS.
•    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
•    Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. 
•    Monitor and analyse accounting data to identify trends and report on financial performance.
•    Liaise with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
•    Ensure proper internal controls are in place and adhered to.


2.    Tax Accounting & Compliance:
•    In coordination with Tax Advisor, prepare and file all types of Egyptian tax returns, including but not limited to:
o    Corporate Income Tax (CIT) returns.
o    Value Added Tax (VAT) returns.
o    Payroll Tax (Salaries Tax) returns.
o    Stamp Duty returns.
o    Withholding Tax returns.
•    Ensure timely and accurate payment of all tax obligations.
•    Stay up-to-date with changes in Egyptian tax laws, regulations, and pronouncements, and advise management on potential impacts.
•    Reconcile tax accounts and resolve any discrepancies with the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA).
•    Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency while ensuring compliance.
•    In coordination with Tax Advisor, handle tax inspections and inquiries from the ETA, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
•    Maintain comprehensive tax records and documentation.

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•    Three years of experience in a similar accounting role in Egypt, with a strong focus on both general and tax accounting.
•    Proven expertise in Egyptian tax laws and regulations.
•    Strong English language skills (both verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

•    Hotel Finance experience and / or centralized accounting experience
•    Systems knowledge: Navision, DocuWare, Birchstreet, Oasys
