Job Description:

The Controls Technician’s role is to provide leadership in PM capability, WO completion, breakdown elimination, and technical support for delivering the team’s operational targets such as safety, quality and efficiency results.  The Controls TR will have a focus on WOs and issues related to controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems; but will be expected to support mechanical WOs and issues as needed.  This role must proactively identify and action risks to safety, food safety, quality and production losses.   Must also lead and coach root cause problem solving with the Make and Pack Technicians on team, effectively communicate priorities, and escalate issues within their area and across shifts.  The controls TR will also take technical direction from the controls leader to assist them in execution of controls specific support work.

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years of experience in maintenance/reliability at Mars or equivalentAdvanced controls and electrical skillsHigh school diploma or GEDWorking knowledge of Good Manufacturing PracticesAbility to convey communications clearly and conciselyUnderstanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with all levels and functionsAble to deal with ambiguity effectivelySuccessful completion of a drug and background screenAbility to work rotating shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, and/or confined spacesHave full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairsAbility to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of in maintenance at MarsPrevious maintenance/TR experience at OHL factoryTechnical degree in industrial electrical/controls or related degree3 to 5 years of experience in a TPM/technical, manufacturing environmentDemonstrated experience working in quality and safety.Functional knowledge and understanding of HACCP concepts

What will be your key responsibilities?Rotate on shift with assigned operating teamLead and support the culture development of Mars, 5 Principles and EngagementCoach Mars safety standards, tools and techniquesIdentify, evaluate and eliminate safety risks using behavior based safety program and near miss reportingPerform mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance on various manufacturing equipment, PLCs, control networks, instrumentation, drives/servos, and electrical systemComplete work orders as assigned and proactively look at work orders to complete as time permitsDocument preventative maintenance and work orders using SAPTroubleshoot and repair routine and advanced electrical issues, and mechanical issues as needed to support other TRsConduct equipment breakdown analysisParticipate and sometimes lead Focused Improvement Teams to eliminate losses within functional area  Develop/train Make and Pack Technicians to: grow functional/technical skills, learn troubleshooting and repair skills to operate equipment more efficiently, understand Autonomous Maintenance activitiesTrain other TRs on shift in areas of controls to grow their capabilityDrive delivery at or above target of following metrics:  TRS, production reliability, stops reduction, mean time between failure, defects found and fixed, work order/PM completion rateUses IWS tools to achieve zero losses, ensure follow up to outages and root cause identificationProvide technical support to eliminate line top losses and team’s equipment ownership improvements90% of time on production floor working with technicians to deliver results, assisting in equipment setup and changeoverAchieve and maintain a high level of technical competency.The ability to handle multiple priorities and complexity Member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) Flow to work as needed to meet the business need Other job duties as assigned by site leadership
