Senior Contract Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Senior Contract Engineer

Role Purpose
The Senior Contract Engineer is responsible for preparing and managing contractual documentation in accordance with company policies, procedures, and ethics. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, cost-effective, and timely contract support to technical departments while contributing to the overall economic performance of operations at CLIENT.

Key Accountabilities Develop and manage contractual documents in compliance with internal standards and industry best practices. Support technical entities by delivering efficient and strategic contract services. Enhance the operational performance of CLIENT through effective contract planning and execution. Ensure insurance matters related to company assets and personnel are addressed appropriately. Monitor KPIs and update contract management systems regularly. Apply company-wide and industry best practices to improve contract processes and outcomes. Promote the use of shareholder frame agreements (FALTC).
Key Activities
Pre-Tendering & Strategy: Collaborate closely with technical counterparts (DUET) to define contract scopes and responsibilities. Participate in the validation of contracting strategies, commercial evaluations, and award recommendations. Conduct market research and maintain updated contractor and supplier databases. Organize and attend Contracts Committee Meetings, define bidder lists, target pricing, and evaluation criteria. Tendering & Negotiation: Prepare and issue calls for tender, pre-consultation packages, and standard/complex bid invitations. Ensure compliance with HSE standards, company policies, and legal requirements in all technical contracts. Draft, review, and negotiate contractual and commercial terms, including standard Terms & Conditions. Lead bid evaluations and negotiations on both commercial and technical fronts, ensuring clarity of responsibilities. Post-Award & Contract Execution: Manage contract approval processes, including coordination with authorities, partners, and internal stakeholders. Ensure timely handover of contract documents to relevant departments. Support claim settlements and legal disputes in coordination with legal, insurance, and finance teams. Oversee ongoing contract performance, renewals, amendments, and closure processes.
HSEQ Responsibilities Adhere strictly to HSEQ standards, company procedures, and legal obligations. Take proactive measures to prevent hazards, environmental pollution, or risk to personnel or assets. Participate in HSEQ drills, meetings, and training to reinforce safety culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: BSc in Engineering, Science, Commerce, or a related field. Experience: 10–12 years post-graduate experience in contract management within the oil & gas industry. At least 2 years as a Contract Engineer within CLIENT or equivalent. Technical Competencies: Strong expertise in service procurement and manpower market dynamics. Comprehensive knowledge of contracting, tendering, and procurement processes. Familiarity with international and local supplier markets and trends. Proficient in key procurement tools (SAP, MPP, GEP). Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, critical thinker with strong analytical skills. Effective communicator and collaborative team player. Self-driven, innovative, and quality-focused with a proactive problem-solving approach.
