Position Overview

At Autodesk, we’re not just shaping tools—we’re shaping the future of how ideas come to life. Our platform is the foundation upon which our customers and a global community of developers build the next generation of design and make software. From architecture and manufacturing to visual effects, our APIs, services, and infrastructure empower innovators to reimagine what’s possible.

We are seeking a Senior Content Designer who believes that exceptional documentation, clear guides, and practical code samples are the foundation of a thriving developer community. You will design and create the content that empowers innovators to build the next generation of design-and-make software. If you are a gifted communicator who is obsessed with eliminating friction for developers, join us in building the industry's most powerful and lovable developer platform.

To be considered, you must apply and include your resume and portfolio with password if required.

Responsibilities:

Design the Developer Journey: Create and improve the content experience for the Autodesk developer platform. You will help define and apply our content strategy, information architecture, and voice and tone to create a seamless and intuitive path for developers

Create High-Impact Developer Content: Design, write, and scale our developer education materials. This includes producing crystal-clear API reference documentation, insightful conceptual guides, practical tutorials, and code samples that accelerate learning and user success

Advocate for the Developer: Act as a strong voice for our developer community. You will help establish feedback loops, engage with users, and translate their insights into actionable recommendations that influence product priorities and improve the developer experience

Collaborate to Enhance DevEx: Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other Designers to embed Developer Experience (DevEx) principles into our product development process and ensure content is a forethought, not an afterthought

Measure and Optimize for Success: Define and track key metrics (like developer satisfaction, content effectiveness, and adoption rates) to measure the impact of your work and drive continuous, data-informed improvements

Minimum Qualifications:

6+ years of demonstrated experience in a content-focused role for a technical audience, such as Content Design, UX Writing, Technical Writing, or Developer Advocacy for a platform company

A strong portfolio is required. Your portfolio should showcase not just finished content (like API docs, tutorials, or guides), but also your process, use of user research, and the measurable impact your work had on user success

Deep empathy for developers and a solid understanding of their ecosystem, including REST APIs, SDKs, and common developer tools (e.g., Git, OpenAPI, Postman)

A systems-thinker with proven expertise in information architecture, content strategy, and UX principles as they apply to complex technical domains

An exceptional writer and communicator, with a talent for distilling complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content

Data-literate with experience using metrics to measure content impact and improve user experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, computer science, human-computer interaction, or a related field

Hands-on experience designing and shipping API and GraphQL experiences

Familiarity with Autodesk products including BIM 360, Autodesk Docs, Revit, AutoCAD, etc
