ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Construction Inspector (On-Call)
VHB is seeking an On-Call Senior Construction Inspector to work on a variety of field related bridge, roadway, and other transportation-based construction projects on site. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations as required by the role.
Responsibilities
Provide assurance that the project has been constructed in accordance with plans and specificationsProvide recommendations concerning construction issuesReview shop drawings and other submittalReview pay requisitions from contractorsPrepare construction change orders and meeting minutes/correspondence related to the projectReview material tests results and reportsMay serve as a Resident Engineer, or as a Senior Inspector under the supervision of a Resident Engineer, on DOT or municipal projects on siteSkills and Attributes
Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and practices related to highway, bridge, and/or marine projectsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to think critically and solve problemsAbility to work well in team-oriented structureExperience reading and interpreting blueprints and construction specificationsRecord of success working on public sector projectsFamiliarity with state DOT softwareQualifications
5 years of construction inspection experience on bridge/highway projects in MA requiredHigh school diploma or GEDAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferredACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification preferredNETTCP Quality Assurance Technologist certification preferredNICET Level III to IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction, or licensure preferredFamiliarity with local construction inspection requirements and proceduresCandidates must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations as required by the roleWe are VHB!
