The Senior Compensation Manager will support the compensation program design and strategy enterprise wide. The focus of this role is on the company’s 32,000+ associates across the United States. This role reports to the Director - Compensation. This team falls under the Total Rewards Centers of Excellence team.

This role will help advance an approach to reward and recognition programs that are both innovative and consistent with the company’s total rewards philosophy, talent strategy, and core values.

Ideally, this person will come from a fast-paced environment with a strategic mentality and an orientation toward analytics. This person will be comfortable within a growing, somewhat ambiguous organizational structure and can deal with modern compensation issues like career frameworks and remote working.

Location:

This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Support the strategy, design, and policy development of broad-based compensation and incentive programs which include career framework, job architecture, position evaluation, salary structures, merit matrices, reward structure, market pricing studies, and recognition program.

Oversee and lead the Ferguson recognition program ensuring the program supports a culture of recognition and engagement and is aligned with the business needs.

Oversee the job evaluation process including the strategy, methodology, and overall process.

Partner with various functional and customer group management to provide advice and guidance to management and key collaborators on organization design, pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.

Partner with the HR Operations team to lead the year-end compensation process including the merit budget development, planning guidelines, and overall communication strategy and approach.

Supervise the effectiveness of existing compensation programs and recommends changes to ensure alignment with compensation trends and organizational objectives.

Responsible for other compensation-related programs and research activities such as functional alignment projects.

Lead in the development and implementation of innovative education, tools, guidelines, and communication approaches to promote understanding and awareness.

Maintain relationships with consultants, vendors, and suppliers to ensure satisfactory standards of service.

Qualifications:

Experience developing and implementing compensation strategies and plans for a large, diverse workforce that includes a mix of exempt and non-exempt associates.

Experience in the design of reward and recognition programs including development of reward structures, salary ranges, incentive plans, and recognition programs.

Knowledge of various laws and regulations pertaining to compensation including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Experience consulting/advising senior leaders on related matters is strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required (e.g., business, human resources, finance/accounting) or equivalent work experience.

Master’s degree in Business Administration (or another relevant field) and/or professional certification is preferred (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional - CCP).

7+ years of progressively responsible experience is required.

A continuous improvement approach, including the ability to use technology, automation, and internal/external partners to advance process efficiency.

Exceptional communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal).

The ability to form relationships and work optimally with partners at all levels.

Proven initiative to investigate and resolve problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively; ability to anticipate future trends/consequences and create innovative approaches.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead multiple projects and analyses simultaneously while being able to meet deadlines.

Excellent skills in data analytics, project management, independent decision making, critical thinking, learning agility, and building solid team relationships.

Requires occasional travel to the company’s East Coast Headquarters in Newport News, VA.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$9,225.00 - $15,033.70

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
