Position Description
The Senior Compensation Analyst is a civil service position, located with the Department of Human Resources, performs complex professional, technical, and analytical classification and compensation activities. The senior-level Classification/Compensation Analyst will perform salary market research and evaluate jobs to ensure the proper administration of Metro’s compensation plans.

Typical Duties
+ Benchmark jobs against market data to determine competitive compensation ranges.
+ Collect data from compensation surveys; use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
+ Research and develop policies related to classification and compensation administration.
+ Provide communication and guidance about our compensation plans to various stakeholders.
+ Create and/or revise job descriptions and compensation rules and policies.
+ Assess jobs for exemption status and appropriate salary range.
+ Prepare and present reports of job analysis, compensation analysis, and costing scenarios.
+ Develop salary surveys for distribution to peer cities and analyze results.
+ Respond to surveys from other municipalities or third parties.
+ Review and verify compliance of merit plans.
+ Assist with implementation of pay plan changes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional HR experience in classification/compensation analysis.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience with market data tools such as Payfactors
+ Experience with job description management tools such as Payscale JDM
+ Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM or similar HCM/HRIS systems
+ Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Society of Human Resources Management certification (SHRM) or other related Human Resources certification
