As a Senior Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting senior communications colleagues and managers to deliver impactful campaigns and day-to-day communications activity. Your work will span a wide range of projects – from supporting local services to shaping borough-wide priorities – and no two days will be the same.

This role offers the opportunity to grow your skills while working on high-profile communications. You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team that champions creativity, innovation and integrity in everything we do.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the planning and delivery of effective communications, media and marketing activity.Developing and managing creative content for print and digital platforms, including social media and the council website.Identifying reputational risks and supporting media responses in a timely and professional way.Collaborating with services and councillors to provide clear, accessible messages for residents, partners and staff.Monitoring the success of campaigns and activities, using insight and evaluation to continuously improve outcomes.Managing small-scale budgets and briefing designers, suppliers or internal teams to deliver quality outputs.Helping to keep internal communications fresh and engaging using a range of staff channels.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and ready to contribute to a busy, high-performing communications team.

You’ll have:

Experience delivering communications, PR, marketing or media activity.Excellent writing skills with a strong eye for detail.Confidence working across digital and print channels.The ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.A good understanding of reputational risk and political sensitivity.Strong interpersonal skills – able to build positive relationships with colleagues, councillors and external partners.You’ll also need to be comfortable using digital tools, social media platforms and content management systems (WordPress experience is a bonus).
