Training Specialist Expert - Senior Command Level ASW Mentor

Our work depends on Training Specialist Expert joining our team to develop, organize, and conduct Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) training and educational programs for Fleet officers and sailors assigned to U.S. Navy Surface Combatants to increase the proficiency and effectiveness of ASW operations. Must be capable of conducting conventional classroom podium teaching as well as leading guided discussion with prospective Commanding Officers and Senior Sea Combat Commander staff personnel.


HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST EXPERT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Position requires ASW SME with Command Level ASW experience in Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures including Strike Group Operations. Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for CO/XO/DEPT HEAD/DESRON staff level personnel in the tactical employment at the unit and group level. Must possess a thorough understanding of Aegis Platforms with AN/SQQ-89(V) SONAR system operations to meet tactical mission requirements (operator, supervisor, and command) to include Rotary and Fixed Wings ASW assets, and U.S. subsurface capabilities.

Performs expert-level development and delivery of highly complex training programs and related materials in support of Senior Level ASW training objectives.

Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.

ASW C2 and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures expertise.

Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness.

Updates ASW course documentation on a regular basis to ensure timeliness and relevance.

Provides work leadership to junior employees; including evaluating the effectiveness of their training presentations and programs; and may have supervisory responsibilities.

Shall serve as technical team or task lead.

Conduct research into new training; educational; and multimedia technologies.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Knowledge of Navy operational and administrative procedures and directives.

Knowledge of and experience with U.S. Navy Tactical Publications.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Three (3) year's experience as an Aegis Commanding Officer or Destroyer Squadron Commodore or warfare commander that employed Aegis, SQQ-89 Sonar Suite, SQQ 90 Sonar Suite, or other applicable weapon or sensor systems on ships in strike group operations.

Desired Additional Qualifications:

Experience as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) with Surface Ship SONAR ASW tactics, techniques, and procedures, underwater acoustic, or in-water tracking systems.

Experience in a Surface Warfare Command of hull mounted SONAR capable warship.

Experience with evaluating shipboard advanced warfare tactics.

Knowledge of Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) Tactical Watch Officer roles and responsibilities.

Three (3) years of experience as an instructor/trainer/evaluator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials, and counseling students on academic learning problems.

Experience as a Trainer in support of SWSC, SMWDC and/or SCSTC is a significant plus.

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.

Ability to develop and deliver briefs to senior client leadership at the O-6 and Flag level.

Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

Security Clearance Requirements: Must already possess and be able to maintain an existing, active DoD SECRET Security Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
