Job Description:

About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Google Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in cloud architecture, Kubernetes, and modern engineering practices to help lead the expansion of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This role blends strong engineering discipline with a focus on building scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure — with an awareness of how platforms operate and support mission-critical workloads. The ideal candidate brings a mindset rooted in reliability, automation, and governance, and is comfortable driving cloud initiatives in partnership with development, security, and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and build foundational GCP infrastructure aligned with security, scalability, and availability best practices.

Lead Kubernetes (GKE) architecture and engineering, including workload orchestration, cluster design, and service networking.

Implement GCP governance frameworks, including IAM policies, org policy constraints, resource hierarchy, and network segmentation.

Partner with data engineering teams to build secure, performant BigQuery environments for analytics and reporting use cases.

Advocate for SRE principles across engineering teams: observability, fault tolerance, error budgets, and reliability automation.

Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, integrated into Git-based CI/CD workflows.

Contribute to the creation of reusable deployment patterns, modules, and onboarding workflows for GCP services.

Drive security and compliance controls by working with security architects on cloud-native enforcement mechanisms.

Influence cost optimization, tagging, and usage insights to align infrastructure with business value.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in cloud engineering roles, with 3+ years of hands-on work in GCP environments

Advanced experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred) and containerized workload architecture.

Deep knowledge of GCP services including BigQuery, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, VPC, IAM, and Monitoring.

Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and working with DevOps pipelines.

Experience working across security, architecture, and platform engineering domains.

Strong scripting proficiency (Python, Bash, etc.)

Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

GCP Professional certifications (Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.)

Familiarity with policy-as-code, service mesh, or workload identity federation

Understanding of enterprise connectivity models (hybrid cloud, DNS, VPNs)

Awareness of FinOps and cloud resource governance strategies

For CA, NY, NJ or IL: The base salary range for this position is $152,000 - $208,250 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
