Position Summary
We’re looking for a Senior Chemist to drive the development of innovative chemical products from concept to production. This role is responsible for formulating new products, improving existing ones, and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and legal to bring high-performing, cost-effective products to market.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Lifecycle Management
Lead chemical product development projects, focusing on improving formulations and processes for better performance and cost-efficiency.
Create and implement technical plans that support product innovation and business objectives.
Analyze competitor products to guide strategy and identify opportunities for differentiation.
Manage the full product development cycle—from lab testing to pilot runs and final production—ensuring designs are scalable and effective.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and long-term product planning.
Assist sourcing teams by identifying alternative raw materials and suppliers.
Documentation & Intellectual Property
Maintain accurate product documentation, including material specifications, formulas, safety data sheets (SDS), and technical details.
Write and review technical documents such as research summaries, lab notes, testing methods, and process instructions.
Support intellectual property efforts by reviewing patents and working with legal teams on new filings.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
Ensure product labels and documentation meet chemical safety and regulatory requirements in global markets.
Maintain certifications and stay up to date with relevant regulatory bodies.
Monitor compliance with regional regulations and industry standards (e.g., REACH, TSCA, ISO).
Provide guidance on regulatory matters for all products across applicable regions.
Quality & Process Excellence
Troubleshoot and resolve technical or quality issues in the lab, during production, or with customers.
Ensure lab processes meet internal standards and support quality assurance in manufacturing.
Uphold high standards for project quality and follow industry best practices.
Recommend new technologies or tools to improve research and development processes.
Contribute to the evaluation of new lab equipment and testing methods.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry, or M.S. in Chemistry with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven experience in developing and evaluating complex chemical compounds and products.
Skilled in leading product development projects, including feasibility analysis, timeline planning, material selection, and documentation.
Capable of mentoring junior chemists and contributing to team development.
Compensation Information:
Pay Range
The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $155,00. Bonus based on individual and business performance with a target bonus range of 8% annually.
