The Role:
BMS Global Procurement is looking to recruit on a permanent contract a Senior Category Manager, Clinical Supply Process Development Procurement, PD&A, to join the Global Procurement group based out of the BMS Global Business Unit Office in Dublin, Ireland. Reporting to the Director, Global Procurement Asset Integration & Product Development within the Product Development and Analytical (PD&A) Procurement pillar, this Senior Category Manager will include procurement responsibilities for the strategic sourcing of externally manufactured development API and/or development Drug Product, ultimately leading to aligned End to End strategic sourcing solutions from pre-First in Human through the product life cycle. Role responsibilities will include delivery high value multiyear sourcing strategies for Product Development that supports the business strategies. This role also supports procurement activities ensuring the seamless integration of our pipeline assets into the BMS GPS ecosystem thus delivering key innovative therapies to our patients with urgency and speed.
This role is focused on developing, executing category strategies within Product Development and enabling rapid integration of key therapies. These strategies will define the purchasing approach for specific spend categories, including sourcing, contracting, defining buying channels, aligning with purchasing policies, and establishing/developing supplier management strategies. Timely integration of key assets/technologies will ensure that the BMS can maximise delivery of therapies to patients.
This role requires close collaboration with various business units to align with their priorities and objectives, as well as partnering with senior leadership across the Product Development organizations to align sourcing strategies, execute end to end sourcing roadmaps/initiatives, and contribute to strong supplier management.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and/or support Procurement responsibilities with key suppliers of externally manufactured API/RSMs and/or Drug Product.Partner with cross-functional teams and drive alignment with Procurement, Quality, Legal, Supply Chain, EHS, Cyber and Finance to facilitate timely enablement/integration of highly technical and complex assets/technologies in accordance with company strategy.Provide hands on support, direction and ownership on sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, contract deviation management and supplier relationship opportunities and issues. Develop End to End strategic sourcing solutions for assets from pre-First in Human through their life cycle.Establish and maintain key relationships through effective stakeholder management.Promotion and implementation of simplified procurement processes including contracting to drive speed, urgency, and responsiveness to the needs of the business.Act as a change agent to influence across business units.Present progress and escalation to appropriate leadership (including functional and Global Procurement-related governance).Support and/or drive development and execution of performance management (e.g., productivity KPIs, Savings Targets, Cost Avoidance)Support optimization of BMS total cost of ownership for spend categories and support an emerging future pipeline of Continuous Improvement deliverables.Bring value and savings back to the business by monetizing the value created through supplier CoGs development and overall Network/Category Strategies.Identification and categorization of risk through engagement with Functional Area partners and suppliers.Act as evaluation liaison within Global Procurement Product Development, communicating asset requirements and understanding external business partner capabilities.Remain current with market trends (including use of AI tools) through relationships with cross category leads, suppliers and market experts, and ensure compliance to the BMS processes.
