The Program
The Australia Awards Global Support Mechanism (AAGSM) is an
initiative designed to enhance the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT)
international scholarship program delivery by providing operational, technical
and analytical services to DFAT and the broader scholarship delivery network.
The AAGSM consists of the Program Support Unit (PSU) - responsible for delivery
of operational and technical services and the Research and Analytical Support
Unit (RASU) – responsible for delivery of analytical and research services. Palladium
delivers the AAGSM PSU and cooperates with DFAT to ensure effective functioning
with the RASU.
The Role
The Senior Case Manager plays a vital role in upholding DFAT’s responsibilities
for effective stewardship of Commonwealth resources, with a focus on compliance
and resource management. This position leads the assessment, analysis, and
resolution of complex, compliance-driven cases, with a strong focus on debt
management and resource accountability across DFAT-funded programs.
In this role, you’ll help drive improvements across legacy case management,
procedural integrity, and the delivery of high-impact recommendations aligned with
DFAT’s policy and financial frameworks.
As the Senior Case Manager your primary responsibilities will include:
Managing debt cases by assessing legacy and current files for alignment with DFAT’s recovery framework, drafting strategic recommendations for resolution, and liaising with finance, legal, and program teams on recoveries, write-offs, and remediation actions.Reviewing compliance by investigating breaches of financial obligations or contract conditions, collecting and analysing documentation, engaging with stakeholders, and building comprehensive case files—all while ensuring procedural fairness and due diligence.Advising on compliance measures and resource controls across programs and departments, recommending policy changes and protocol adjustments to mitigate future risks, and supporting the integration of a strong compliance culture within delivery teams.Designing secure and consistent practices for compliance, case tracking, documentation, and resolution pathways in collaboration with the Business Services team, while working closely with DFAT internal teams—including finance, legal, Desks, and Posts—to manage sensitive debt cases with clear reporting lines and defined stakeholder responsibilities.Preparing concise reports and briefing notes for senior decision-makers, delivering policy-informed advice on corrective actions and recovery strategies, and contributing to cross-program learning through insights drawn from case analysis.Travelling domestically and internationally as needed to conduct on-ground case assessments and follow up on financial audits
