The Senior Buyer will support Wayne Water Systems (Wayne) Supply Chain Department with regards to the planning and procurement of goods and/or services supporting production schedules and inventory management. He/she will manage the on-time delivery of materials and perform supply chain analytics. This role will be integral in achieving 98% On Time Delivery in Full as well as supporting Supply Chain’s strategies in reducing working capital, identifying alternative materials, negotiating prices, and improving supplier quality. Reports to the Global Supply Chain Manager.Position ResponsibilityCoordinate with the Global Supply Chain Manager along with the Business Unit Sales Manager to understand Sell-Out expectations and modify the Sell-In plan aligning agreed inventory levels, sources of supply, capacity of those sources, shipment schedules and existing on-hand stock levels.
Ensures MRP database is encoded and updated based on variable lead times, delivery points and Kanban batch expectations (where applicable).
Issue purchase orders using MRP indicators. Confirm purchase orders and follow up with suppliers as needed to ensure purchase order if fulfilled on time, with the right quantity, and the right quality.
Interact with other departments to ensure on-time delivery goals are achieved including the expediting of materials as needed. Resolve administrative errors as needed in the process of receiving and invoicing.
Supports Engineering in the development of solutions to resolve material issues with existing products. Works closely with Engineering and Buyers to support new product development.
Track and monitor inbound container deliveries and coordinate required documentation such as Bill of Ladings between forwarder and suppliers. Update container module with container tracking numbers and due dates.
Audit Customs Filing HTS codes for accuracy.
Track commodity prices for Zinc, Aluminum, Steel, Copper, Labor, and Pulp and Paper.
Support the evaluation of vendor performance and development of alternative sources.
When requested, set up local vendor sources and monitor contract agreements to ensure all mutually agreed obligations are fulfilled.
Convey any lead time changes to Operations and the Global Supply Chain Manager.
Conduct analytics as requested in cost reduction strategies and material planning efficiencies.
Work with Finance to validate all billing invoices from suppliers as needed.
Support Inventory Control to ensure minimized working capital tied up with inventory along with reviews of slow & non-moving stock for consumption.
Aids in MRO business requirements planning & procurement activities as a compliment to materials.
Supports the continuous improvement activities for the Supply Chain Department.
Collaborate with Master Production Scheduler filling in missing part requirements for orders.
Further supports the Global Supply Chain Manager with procedural updates.
Position Requirements:Bachelor's degree (B.
