DigitalOcean is seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role is perfect for a seasoned professional passionate about leveraging data to drive strategic business decisions and optimize reporting processes within our cloud computing infrastructure.

What You’ll Do: Strategic BI System Management: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our comprehensive BI systems, ensuring their scalability, reliability, and alignment with evolving business needs. BI Optimization & Innovation: Proactively identify and implement strategies to optimize existing reporting processes, enhance data visualization, and introduce innovative reporting solutions that provide actionable insights. Data Architecture & Modeling: Design and implement robust data models and architectures using dbt that support efficient data storage, retrieval, availability, analysis, and comprehensive BI reporting. ETL Development: Develop and maintain complex ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurately and efficiently integrated across various systems. Data Warehousing: Build and maintain performant data warehouses and data lakes to support advanced analytics and reporting needs. Data Analytics & BI Reporting: Develop and maintain BI infrastructure to enable in-depth stakeholder analysis and reporting. Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and query execution to ensure efficient processing and analysis. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, marketing managers, and other engineers to understand complex business requirements and translate them into robust technical BI solutions. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of data architectures, processes, and best practices. Key Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data patterns and present to the executive team.  Extensive experience with dbt, data modeling techniques, and best practices, with a proven track record of building sophisticated and optimized data models. Expert-level proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). Deep understanding of data architecture and best practices, including automation, governance, lineage, and dependency management. Significant experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery). Advanced familiarity with BI tools, with Looker preferred. Strong experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow). Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-based data services. While the philosophy around our benefits is the same worldwide, specific benefits may vary based on local regulations and preferences. We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $138,000 - $208,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.  We value diversity and inclusion.
