Description Join Amazon's Supply Chain Execution organization as a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer and help shape the future of our global fulfillment network optimization. As a key technical leader on our Midterm Planning (MTP) team, you'll bridge the gap between short-term operations and long-term network strategy, leading the design and implementation of innovative BI solutions that drive critical decisions about inventory placement, capacity planning, and network optimization. The MTP organization plays a crucial role in generating accurate forecasts, optimizing inventory placement, and providing data-driven insights for decision-making. In this senior-level position, you'll develop sophisticated data models and analytics solutions that significantly impact business decisions and network flow strategies. Your responsibility will be to design and deliver complex, strategically aligned BI solutions that enhance our ability to plan and optimize across one of the world's largest supply chain operations. Working closely with business leaders, data scientists, and engineers across the organization, you'll design and implement scalable BI architectures and analytics frameworks. Your focus will be on improving the consistency and integration of our MTP BI solutions, solving ambiguous architecture challenges, and influencing the team's technical and business strategy. Key job responsibilities - Lead the architecture and development of strategic BI solutions that drive critical business decisions for the MTP organization. - Partner with senior leadership to translate complex business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions - Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of mission-critical BI solutions that solve complex, ambiguous problems across the supply chain network. This includes taking a hands-on role in developing the team's strategic data artifacts and making the right architectural trade-offs. - Improve the consistency and integration of the MTP BI ecosystem, identifying opportunities to reuse or extend existing components rather than creating new ones. Significantly influence the technical and business strategy of the team. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders to build consensus, resolve issues, and ensure tight alignment between BI solutions and evolving business requirements. Participate in design reviews and mentor other engineers to elevate deliverable quality. - Set an exemplary standard for BI engineering excellence through your personal contributions, design decisions, and code reviews. Play a key role in attracting, developing, and retaining top BI talent. A day in the life As a Sr. BIE, your days are dynamic and impactful. You might start by analyzing network capacity trends, then collaborate with Data Engineers and Network Planners to enhance forecasting models and tools. You support scenario network design reviews for high volume events, gathering stakeholder feedback to meet decision-making needs. You also mentor junior team members and strategize with leadership on aligning operational data with network planning. Throughout, you're the go-to expert, driving data-driven decisions that directly influence how MTP optimizes its quarterly and annual guidance. Each day presents new challenges to solve through your BI expertise. About the team The Midterm Planning (MTP) team is a crucial component of Amazon's Supply Chain Execution organization, serving as a central integrator for cross-functional workstreams. We bridge the gap between short-term operational planning and long-term strategic network design, focusing on a 16 to 52 weeks horizon that optimize Amazon's fulfillment network through data-driven decision-making. We're passionate about leveraging advanced analytics to solve complex supply chain challenges, ensuring planning and execution cohesion across the network. Basic Qualifications - 10+ years of professional or military experience - 5+ years of SQL experience - Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets - Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results - Experience with AWS technologies - Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills. - Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining - Experience with operations/supply chain - Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling - Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions Preferred Qualifications - Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs - Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
