Senior Business Development Manager, MEA, Wärtsilä Energy Storage

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Business Development Manager to join our dynamic, fast-paced, MEA Sales team. This permanent position will be based in Australia; preferably in Sydney.

 

 

Role :

The ideal candidate has deep understanding of sales of large and complex energy projects and brings valuable experience gained from having contributed to closing of large BESS projects while managing project risks.  The candidate should thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment. This role will report to the Area Sales Director – MEA, Wärtsilä Energy Storage.

 

 

Responsibilities :

Originate new business opportunities and develop a strong pipeline of energy storage projects Lead the project sales team and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders Secure deal quality by ensuring requirements are understood and accounted for with correct pricing strategies and risk management    Lead contract negotiations while ensuring compliance with Wärtsilä Energy Storage contract policies and guidelines Promote Wärtsilä Energy Storage strategic objectives and value-based selling Develop successful partnerships with key customers and strategic partners. Accountable for strategy and account planning for assigned customers Represent voice of customers to internal stakeholders. Develop a solid understanding of relevant local legislation and the requirements for doing business in the renewable energy sector. Manage, follow up and report progress by keeping CRM updated Ensure sales projects are smoothly transitioned to the project delivery team Drive Wärtsilä’s purpose and demonstrate our values of Customer Success, Passion and Performance.

 

 

Requirements:

Demonstrated experience in negotiating and securing utility-scale battery energy storage projects. Understanding of the Australian electricity market and the business environment Minimum five years of experience in a project sales environment. Consultative selling skills, ability to understand customer needs and develop a winning solution. Ability to influence senior level stakeholders in utilities, IPPs or large energy corporates.  Proficiency in energy storage business, technology and products, and commercial understanding of energy storage contracts. Experience and understanding of engineering, construction, and commissioning process of utility-scale assets.  Fluency in English.  Master or Bachelor level education in Engineering, Business or Economics. Willing and able to travel at short notice and spend time with customers. Boundaryless mindset, you are happy to challenge status quo and change the game.  A passion for innovation, and ability to adapt to fast changing market demands and simplify complexity to actionable plans. Superior skills in communication and negotiation Appreciates diversity and is able to build psychological safety and inclusion to the organisation  Successful applicant must be based in Australia and must have lived here for a minimum of 5 years.
