Job Overview

The Senior Business Associate is a senior level position within the Markets Chief Operating Office’s NAM Markets team. A key Markets COO resource in Canada, the Senior Business Associate will be the go-to person for all Markets business execution needs arising from activity in Canada.  Main focuses of the role include supporting the following:

Markets’ Canada franchise and senior managementCanadian legal entity management and governanceProjects and strategic initiatives to support the broader NAM Markets franchise

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven ability to work together with multiple stakeholders across Markets, Banking and International including the Canada Chief Country Office, Compliance, Finance, HR, Data, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, and Internal Audit.  The candidate must be able to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional environment without close supervision and with colleagues who may not be in the same geographic location.

The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills that rely on influence and building effective partnerships to execute our business plans and controls in a systematic, measurable, and effective way.

The role will be based in Toronto co-located with Canada Markets senior management and will work closely with colleagues in New York.

Responsibilities:

Partner with key stakeholder teams to ensure alignment of business goalsAssist leadership and stakeholders with developing projects, determining strategies, and defining/providing metricsAdvance control framework including executing Manager’s Control Assessment testing, operational loss processes, and corrective actionsPrepare materials, record minutes, and follow-up as needed on items for business committees and/ or regular business meetingsSeek out sources, track, consolidate and analyze ad-hoc and regular business requestsDrive implementation of business-driven projects across functions, working closely with relevant senior leadershipProvide input into and recommend technology change, process improvements and control framework enhancementsSeek out and ensure corrective actions are implemented for control related issues and remedial action is takenCommunicate business knowledge, product knowledge, and requirements to business and internal support functionsAppropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

6-10 years of experience in financial services or consultingDemonstrated working knowledge of financial services industry; Global Markets experience preferredConsistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree/University degree
