Senior Benefits Analyst

Using analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills, organization, collaboration, and communication skills, this position is responsible for providing subject matter expertise on administration, compliance, vendor management, reporting, as well as employee communication and education for the full suite of employee benefit programs. The position will also conduct research and data analysis regarding various aspects of the plans and vendor integrations, identify and develop process improvements, and implement programs accordingly. **Responsibilities** + Become a subject matter expert on all R1 benefit programs and insurance plans, including health, life, disability, retirement savings, wellbeing, voluntary plans, and spending accounts. + Manages compliance calendar and assists with or coordinates completion of activities timely throughout the year. + Recommends and develops communications strategy and materials in collaboration with Communications team, to promote benefit programs, increase utilization or engagement, seek feedback, enhance resources, and educate Associates at all levels of the organization to improve understanding, awareness and appropriate utilization of available benefits and tools. + Comfortable explaining and occasionally doing presentations to Associates about benefit programs – strong customer service mindset + Assists in resolution of complex, non-routine benefits issues. + Provides project management support for benefit-related projects. + Remains current on and actively reviews regulatory and legal updates to assist in determining what actions may be required by R1. Seeks understanding of the implications to R1, any options available to comply, and develops recommendations for approval. + Works closely and in conjunction with third party vendors and internal IT teams to identify system requirements, to ensure compatibility and functionality, and ensures that all electronic files are sent to vendors with accurate data and in a timely manner. + Assists in troubleshooting and resolving electronic file (integration) issues, and oversees enhancements or changes to ensure data integrity, accuracy of plan administration and completeness. + Subject matter expert of Workday benefit related configuration, vendor integrations, and new program implementations. Oversees accurate set up and maintenance in these areas with support from our HR Technical team. + Leads effort to improve new Associates onboarding experience, as it relates to benefits, to ensure understanding of the available benefit options, enrollment access and resources. + Periodically audits benefit enrollment records against carrier records to ensure accuracy. Coordinates resolution of discrepancies and follows through to ensure completion. + Periodically audits invoices for accuracy and to ensure appropriate payment of premiums according to contract terms and enrollment numbers. + Interprets and explains R1 benefits and policies in clear, non-technical language that will be understandable to Associates at all levels of the organization. Responds to Associate inquiries accurately and professionally. + May collaborate with consultants, benefit vendors, and third-party administrators to evaluate existing benefit programs and utilization and propose changes. May assist in conducting focus groups or developing survey questions to gather feedback from Associates. + Assists with Open Enrollment coordination, communications, and related activities, including renewal of plans, updates to documentation, overseeing carrier integration changes, testing of enrollment workflow, and reporting. + Prepares reports and conducts analysis to provide information for decision making, audits, benefits administration issues or other ad hoc requests. + Seeks opportunities for efficiency, improvement, and harmonization and develops recommendations. + Investigates issues to determine root cause and develops solutions to prevent recurrence **Skills and Qualifications** : + Intermediate skills in Excel, which includes performing VLOOKUP’s, creating pivot tables, and manipulating data in various formats. + Basic working knowledge of group insurance plan processing and administration, both self-insured and fully insured designs. + Demonstrated experience overseeing system configuration, interfaces and performing implementations of an HRIS system and/or new benefit programs, including coordinating with IT/Technical or other internal and vendor teams to succeed **Experience** : + 3-5 years overall Benefits experience, of which, at least 2 years of experience are specifically related to the responsibilities of this role + Experience working with benefits in a medium to large company preferred + Demonstrated collaborative work ethic, team player with a positive attitude, desire to continuously learn and share learnings with others. + Prior experience and basic working knowledge of Workday (including payroll deductions and integrations), and basic reporting preferred. + Experience with benefits administration services and systems preferred + Experience conducting benefit presentations, benefit fairs, or Associate onboarding sessions virtually For this US-based position, the base pay range is $65,342.00 - $94,799.70 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
