At KONE Technology and Innovation (KTI), we’re shaping the future of urban movement by combining the physical world (elevators, escalators) with the digital one. Our Digital Innovation Team works like a startup inside KONE: fast, hands-on, and grounded in real user problems. We build solutions from scratch, taking ideas from early concept to pilot and global scale.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team where designers, developers, and product thinkers work closely together without silos. We experiment quickly, validate ideas with real users, and focus on creating meaningful impact. Our work contributes directly to KONE’s key strategies to accelerate our digital transformation.

We’re looking for a hands-on backend and cloud developer who enjoys building scalable services, clean APIs, and robust cloud infrastructure. You’ll work closely with our frontend and design team to bring new digital concepts to life.

We typically work 3 days per week in the Espoo office in Finland to collaborate, sketch, and test ideas together. The rest of the time, you can work remotely depending on what suits you and your projects.

In this role, you will

•Design and build scalable backend services using Python

•Prototype and develop REST and event-driven APIs

•Build serverless cloud solutions using AWS services

•Manage data flows using Kafka, Kinesis, DynamoDB, and Timestream

•Own the backend development lifecycle from design and testing to deployment and monitoring

•Collaborate directly with designers and frontend engineers

What we’re looking for

•Several years of experience in backend and cloud development

•Strong hands-on experience with Python and AWS serverless services

•Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and monitoring tools

•Ability to communicate clearly in English with both technical and non-technical team members

•Comfort working in a fast-moving, prototype-driven environment

•Bonus: experience with data pipelines, IoT, or ML infrastructure
