The Senior Automation Development Engineer is responsible for Development, implementation, and Sustainment of High-Volume Manufacturing equipment for consumables’ assembly process.  

This position is part of the Automation Development Engineering team and will be located in Newark, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions. This opportunity will provide learnings to develop technical skills, engage in automation development projects and prepare for future technical opportunities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

You will have the opportunity to use your experience to design and develop medical device manufacturing processes for high volume production using automation equipment.You will evaluate current capabilities, available technology in the industry, and product requirements to develop new and improve current methods and processes, drive equipment design in a large-scale environment.You will use statistical methods to develop processes and drive continuous improvement activities in collaboration with a diverse and highly talented engineering team.This is a hands-on position involving concept development, process characterization, and validation (transfer to production) of automated and semi-automated equipment.You will interface well with cross functional teams including other engineers, scientists, and operations experts.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Education and Experience (in years): 

BS in Mechanical, Biomedical Devices, Plastics Engineering, Electromechanical (or a related field) with 4+ years of experience OR Master degree or above in Mechanical, Biomedical Devices, Plastics Engineering, Electromechanical (or a related field) with 2+ years of experienceSelf-starting, motivated individual with proven track record of learning new skills to achieve results.Strong data analysis skills

Physical/Environment Requirements:

Ability to work in clean room environment.Ability to use hand or power tools.Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift, push.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Working knowledge and experience of GMP, ISO, and FDA rules and regulatory requirements and prior experience in biomedical device assembly process developmentPrior experience working with plastic components’ assembly

The salary range for this role is $120,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
