Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Position Overview:
The Versant On-Air Graphics Team is looking for a full-time staff Senior Art Director for its rapidly growing portfolio of live sports properties and studio shows. Join a team of sports fanatics that have an equal appreciation for typography, design and information layout. Your role will involve leading a team of designers, animators and graphics integrators in the creation of new packages, as well as leading teams in the weekly management of existing on-air packages. Working closely with Coordinating Producers of various properties, a collaborative and inspiring spirit is essential to the success of this role, carefully balancing patience with a ‘get-to-air’ urgency.
Responsibilities:
+ Work closely with teams of designers to conceptualize, design, create and integrate high-end sports graphics packages for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
+ Review and collaborate with CD’s and other AD’s on the overall look and feel and direction of packages, to align with creative briefs and ensure quality throughout the process.
+ Manage and develop artists and designers within the larger department, creating opportunities throughout the year professional growth.
+ Work collaboratively with Project Management and Scheduling to identify the most efficient ways to manage graphics production and to ensure project budgets are maintained.
+ Supervise the day-to-day design and production for studio and on-air graphics.
+ Lead creative teams to create best in class motion graphics packages for sports broadcasting.
Basic Requirements:
+ 8+ years experience working at a network or broadcast design agency
+ College graduate with degree in graphic design, fine arts or similar
+ Complete understanding of live sports graphics packaging a must (ie. Insert and scoring GFX, Interstitials, Transitions, Wraparound packaging, etc.)
+ Hands-on ability with strong technical skills (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, C4D, Redshift, etc.)

+ Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.
