General Position Summary:
The Senior Applications Engineering Manager will lead the engineering department in developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and equipment related to wire and cable production. This role requires a strong focus on process optimization, product quality, cost efficiency, and team leadership. The Senior Applications Engineering Manager acts as a key technical expert and strategic leader, collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, and R&D to support the company's operational goals
Essential Duties:
Lead and manage a team of process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for wire drawing, stranding, insulating, jacketing, and other cable production operations.
Oversee capital projects, including new equipment installation, upgrades, and factory layout changes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, process efficiency, and adherence to industry standards (e.g., UL, ISO, RoHS).
Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) to improve productivity, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams for troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Evaluate and approve technical documentation, engineering drawings, and process instructions.
Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for equipment and materials.
Develop and manage the engineering department budget.

Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 10-15 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 10 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong background in wire and cable manufacturing processes (e.g., extrusion, cross-linking, shielding, cabling).
Proven experience in managing capital projects and continuous improvement programs.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process modeling tools.
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Knowledge of applicable manufacturing and product standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ASTM).
Experience with ERP and manufacturing data systems (e.g., SAP, MES).
Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001.
Requires individual with strong conceptual and analytical skills, organization and problem-solving ability, verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be a team player with staff colleagues and a developer of teamwork skills within the departments supervised.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
Ability to collaborate with manufacturing team members as needed in an environment that can be noisy.
Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Able to sit for extended periods of time.
Able to hear ordinary conversations and phone communications.
Environmental Conditions:
Air-conditioned and/or heated office setting.
Manufacturing Plant Floor.
