Senior Applications Engineer – EV NHR Power Electronics

The EMERSON TBU-Costumer Centric Solutions (CCS) Americas team has an immediate opening for a Senior Applications Engineer with a focus on EV and Power Electronics in a customer facing role! In this role, you will work in the support for NI-NHR deployed systems, provide training to partners and customers users of our technology, support R&D debugging on-site issues with our power electronics HW and Enerchron SW. Design, development, and deployment of integrated customer solutions, providing technical leadership to the development team and execution perfection to the project. You will also interact and advise pre-sales teams in proposal generation and statement of work creation!

 

Core Job Responsibilities

Accurately identify customer needs and provide estimates for coordinated system solutions. Interact with customers, NI staff, external partners, and external suppliers in support of designing, implementing, and sustaining custom test solutions High-level collaborative design of integrated solutions. Manage and give direction to the development team. Ensure that alignment to development processes and standard methodologies. Review work quality and provide mentorship to other specialists. Craft and develop reusable hardware architectures to be used by multiple projects. Work with Project Managers to find efficient technical solutions to project challenges. Responsible for all technical deliverables for given project Collaborate closely with the customers and the presales teams in early engagements to advise and help build service proposals Leads the design of the systems, workflows and architectures which enable the future state to be achieved with the use of NI and NI ecosystem tools and offerings Leads Program Adoption by guiding the introduction of new systems and workflows to enable the customer desired future state (business outcome) Help with providing training, mentoring and growing new talent in the EV space

Skills

Strong understanding of high power and high voltage industrial systems Experience developing test systems for EV power train components such as Inverters, motors, batteries, chargers, DC/DC converters, etc.  Familiarity with industry best practices on designing for compliance with standards, safety, and certification for high power panel design  Strong understanding of electrical and electronics engineering related to test engineering Familiarity with software for test systems and test software architectures  Detailed understanding of systems design principles and experience developing and integrating large-scale automotive validation and verification test systems. Demonstrates technical leadership in planning, coordinating, specification development, requirements gathering, monitoring, quality assurance and status reporting of technical work. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and experience working directly with customers, engineers, and business partners Ability to work optimally in a fast-paced, changing, and exciting environment. Customer service-oriented approach

 

Demonstrated ability to: Lead and work effectively with team Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose effective solutions Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently Persistently drive tasks and lead projects to successful completion Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products

Basic Requirements

BS degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Electromechanical Engineering Experience providing training for customers on Power Electronics equipment from NHR product line Expertise in NHR product line that includes HW (i.e. NHR-9400) and SW Enerchron 8+ years of experience in high power system development, and system integration and/or test and measurements industry on automotive applications Technical leadership experience Availability to travel 25% of the time Familiarity with NI products and platforms. Must be US Citizen or greencard holder we will not sponsor a Visa 

Preferred Requirements:

High power cabinet design experience  FPGA Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, SystemLink 
PATools Experience Hands on use of NI hardware platforms Automotive communication networks and protocols Measurement System Analysis (Measurement and process variation)
