General Summary:

Job Summary 

At Qualcomm AI Research Vietnam, Android Engineers are instrumental in transforming cutting-edge AI research into real-world mobile applications. You will work closely with Research Scientists and Engineers to integrate foundation models and agentic pipelines into Android platforms, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and user-centric design. This role involves building robust Android applications, optimizing on-device AI inference, and contributing to both internal tools and public-facing demos that showcase Qualcomm’s AI capabilities.

Key responsibilities

AI Integration on Android: Collaborate with AI researchers to deploy machine learning models on Android devices, ensuring efficient and scalable performance.App Development: Design, develop, and maintain Android applications that demonstrate AI features, from prototype to production.Performance Optimization: Optimize applications for speed, memory usage, and battery efficiency, particularly for real-time vision and audio tasks.Tooling & Infrastructure: Build tools and frameworks to support rapid development, testing, and deployment of AI-powered Android apps.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with cross-disciplinary teams including AI researchers, UX designers, and system engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.Documentation & Support: Maintain clear documentation of code, APIs, and workflows to support team collaboration and future development.

Requirements

Education & Background

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experience in mobile development, particularly Android, with a strong interest in AI/ML applications.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java for Android development.Familiarity with Android SDK and modern Android architecture components.Experience integrating ML models using TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, or Qualcomm’s SNPE.Understanding of Android performance profiling and debugging tools.Expert knowledge in designing concurrency and parallelism algorithmsPrior experience with working at low-level of Android such as HAL is a plus.

AI/ML Integration

Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and ability to work with AI engineers to integrate models.Experience with on-device model optimization techniques (e.g., quantization, pruning) is a plus.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
