**The** **Role:** Senior Analyst, ESG Controversy Research
**The Team:** Join S&P Global Sustainable1, your go-to source for essential sustainability intelligence, as we seek a Senior Analyst, to enhance our Controversy Analysis Team (widely known as S&P’s Media & Stakeholder Analysis (MSA)). This position offers a direct exposure to a wide range of sustainability issues across different industries, as well as to our scoring methodology. We are an international team, composed of multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to analyzing sustainability risks. **The Impact:** As a Senior Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality analyses of corporate ESG controversies, which directly inform the scoring methodology of S&P’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). You will also be instrumental in upholding the highest standards in the application of our guidelines, while overseeing complex assessments and contributing to key projects.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Monitor and conduct comprehensive analysis of media coverage and news reports related to corporate ESG controversies and risks.
+ Utilize MSA's proprietary methodology to create a robust assessment of controversies, evaluating their potential impact on the company’s reputation or operations, as well as on affected stakeholders.
+ Serve as a quality control layer for assessments produced by analysts, reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the MSA methodology.
+ Lead complex reviews of corporate ESG risks across different industry sectors.
+ Manage cross-functional projects with internal stakeholders, leveraging strong analytical skills and stakeholder engagement to drive the development and implementation of IT solutions that support MSA objectives.
+ Support the development of new products catering to the investor community that wish to incorporate controversies into their workflows
+ Engage proactively with companies responding to MSA inquiries through feedback calls and management meetings, fostering constructive dialogue and collaboration.
+ Innovate and propose alternative approaches to enhance the ongoing monitoring of news and ESG controversies, focusing on best practices across various industry sectors.
**Qualifications** :
+ 7+ years of professional experience in ESG research, ESG ratings, corporate sustainability, or reputational risk management, with a preference for candidates with experience in the Financial Services industry preferred.
+ Expertise in screening for negative ESG controversies and conducting reputational risk assessments.
+ Master’s degree in a relevant field or an equally advanced degree.
+ Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail, enabling thorough evaluation of complex data and information.
+ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to process complex information into clear, concise, and actionable insights for senior management and external stakeholders.
+ Proven research capabilities, with a track record of delivering fact-based, structured analyses that inform strategic decision-making.
+ Self-motivated and organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple work assignments under tight deadlines, both independently and collaboratively within a diverse international team.
+ Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
+ Proficient in MS Excel and other relevant IT tools, with the ability to leverage technology to enhance research and analysis processes.
