Position Overview
Our expanding tax team is adding a Senior Accountant, International Tax to focus on U.S. and international tax compliance and income tax provision, with the opportunity to participate in all aspects of taxation including domestic and international reporting. Join our dynamic, growing company and experience a broad range of challenging tax issues and compliance in the renewable energy industry. Work with a cross-functional team of tax professionals and external service providers to meet ongoing business tax requirements and obligations. This position is located in our downtown Chicago office and reports to the Director of Tax.
Responsibilities
Lead Canadian income tax compliance process, including reviewing 40+ Canadian income tax returns prepared by external service providers and preparing the Canadian income tax provision under ASC 740 for U.S. financial reportingLead all Canadian GST/HST compliance matters, including preparing monthly tax returns, reconciling monthly accruals, and handling audits and noticesLead all U.S. international tax compliance matters, including information gathering, data analysis, and review of all foreign entities’ U.S. tax returns (Form 5471, 8865, and 8858) prepared by external service providersAssist preparing foreign tax credit calculations and Form 1118Manage processes for transfer pricing and country-by-country reporting, including coordination with our local offices for local notification filingsReview Schedule K-2 and K-3 for complex partnership tax returnsPrepare and review international income tax provision (ASC 740)Oversee and support the Company’s international offices for their in-country tax compliance Responsible for preparing and filling forms and applications, including U.S. residency certificates, Form 1042, and Form 8832Work with cross-functional teams throughout the organization (e.g., accounting, legal, finance operations, development teams from various countries) to achieve common goals and improve processesRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, or related field; Master’s Degree in Taxation and/or CPA is a plus4+ years of progressive tax experience in a multinational company or professional firmProficiency with software and system applications (Excel, MS Word, etc.), and ability to learn internal applicationsAnalytical, solutions-focused mindset with the proven ability to work independently as well as collaborate cross-functionallyAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExceptional technical skills and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detailExcellent written and oral communication skillsEligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications
Prior experience in the energy, power, real estate, or infrastructure space is a plusExperience working both in-house and at an external service providerExperience supporting businesses in Quebec is desirableBase Pay
100,000.00 - 120,750.00 USD AnnualBonus: 20% - 30%
