Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is a fast-paced, innovative, and growing global organization. This organization provides exciting opportunities for accountants who want to be challenged and are interested in being directly involved with product business decisions. This open position is an Accounting Manager on the LPSD Consolidations Team. The role will lead and provide support to all LPSD’s Research & Engineering (R&E) activities.
This role is a supervisor position with leadership over managing R&E financial planning and analysis, as well as acting as a trusted business advisor to the LPSD engineering community. The incumbent will demonstrate and develop leadership skills, communication, presentation, and financial analysis skills, along with regular interactions with senior leadership within LPSD.
The position will report to the LPSD Consolidations Senior Manager. Primary responsibilities of the Accounting Manager are divided into these areas:
**What You Have:**
**Education:** Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or related field
**Leadership & Managing People:**
Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
+ Translates vision into specific functional or departmental initiatives.
+ Uses a normative decision model (with leadership styles and situational variables) to select style.
+ Promotes efficacy through monitoring, coaching & motivating subordinates, intervention, etc.
+ Uses emotional contagion to affect the mood of group members, tone of group and group processes.
+ Initiates structure: role clarification, setting standards, holding subordinates accountable, etc.
+ Employs various group decision-making methods depending on the situation.
**Finance and Accounting Expertise:**
Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
+ Provides technical guidance and expertise on accountable reporting consolidations processes and corporate financial results analysis, and customer requirements analysis.
+ Leads initiatives outside team to represent the group (e.g. process improvements, new business requirements).
+ Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers and customers.
+ Coaches others on how to quantify costs and benefits for major expenditures.
**Financial Analysis:**
Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
Level Extensive Experience:
+ Conducts and documents analyses of a variety of financial statements and indicators.
+ Anticipates the potential impact of decisions based on financial data analysis.
+ Oversees financial analysis to evaluate organizational and managerial performance.
**Serve the Customer:**
+ Participates in the development and support of business strategies
+ Communicates effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers, including presentations to all levels of management.
+ Proactively interacts with customers to develop, understand, and manage customer requirements and expectations.
+ Serves as liaison between customer, team and data providers and manages customer relationships.
+ Identifies, establishes, prioritizes and communicates goals and objectives of team.
+ Provides services, makes recommendations and manages costs.
**Business Acumen:**
Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
+ Comments on the organization's business model and financial goals.
+ Communicates key considerations for business decision making process.
+ Cites examples of types of information needed to make sound business decisions.
+ Participates in business task to get things done in own unit or area.
+ Caters to key stakeholders and their priorities.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
