**Job Description**
The **Senior Accountant (Revenue)** will support the Group Controllership revenue accounting function within the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) and Bioproduction Group (BPG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a member of the Group Controllership team, key responsibilities include:
+ Review and analyze complex revenue agreements to evaluate and identify potential revenue recognition issues (i.e. complex language, omissions of data, necessary additions, language changes)
+ Review in-licensing and out-licensing milestone contracts for proper accounting treatment
+ Perform month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation
+ Prepare monthly roll-forwards and other financial reports
+ Perform account reconciliations for revenue-related accounts and any other assigned areas
+ Ensure compliance with US GAAP, the company’s revenue recognition policies and SOX controls
+ Support monthly AR and DSO process
+ Partner with and support the Finance teams by assisting with revenue recognition related questions and provide technical guidance to the team and financial partners
+ Support internal and external audits
+ Participate in projects related to process improvement
+ Support ad-hoc tasks and requests as needed
**Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:**
+ Analytical skills to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
+ Read and interpret terms and conditions, written guidelines, directions, and correspondence
+ Strong communication skills to prepare and deliver educational, analytical, and/or persuasive presentations
+ Strong organizational skills to balance priorities, complete projects in a timely manner, and consistently manage own workload
+ Diplomacy, flexibility and tact (professional demeanor)
+ Organized, detail-oriented and refined time management skills
+ Ability to work effectively under high stress, time critical deadlines

+ Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP)
+ Experience with automated accounting systems (ERP)
+ Flexibility in scheduling due to business requirements (i.e., month-end close)
**Key Differentiators:**
+ Strong accounting background (revenue recognition experience a plus)
+ ERP system experience (HFM, SAP, JD Edwards/E1, Oracle R12 a plus)
+ Life science industry experience a plus
**Education and Work Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting)
+ 6+ years of accounting experience
