Description A high-growth real estate company in Solana Beach, CA, is seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to join their financial team and oversee critical accounting functions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant with a strong background in real estate accounting who is ready to support the firm’s development projects and acquisitions. Duties and Responsibilities: As the Senior Accountant, you will manage financial reporting and operational accounting across the company’s portfolio of properties. Core duties include: + Preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements for multiple real estate projects, including P& Ls and balance sheets. + Managing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring accurate journal entries during month-end close. + Monitoring budgets for real estate development projects and providing variance reports. + Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, preparing property tax filings, and working alongside external tax consultants. + Supporting revenue recognition, expense allocation, and cash flow management. + Assisting in internal and external audits while providing accurate and detailed workpapers. + Overseeing accounting for investments, acquisitions, and leases to adhere to real estate accounting standards (ASC 842). Requirements + 5+ years of accounting experience, including real estate or property management exposure. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA highly preferred). + Advanced knowledge of real estate accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, or JD Edwards). + Deep understanding of GAAP with exposure to real estate-specific rules and standards. + Expertise in property budgets, cash flow forecasting, and property tax compliance. + Strong excel skills (pivot tables, macros) and financial modeling capabilities. + Excellent multitasking, time management, and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.
