Senior Accountant - Investment Accounting
The position will be responsible for analysis of The Hartford’s investment results – focusing on the investments managed by HIMCO. Primary responsibilities include: monthly reconciliations and analytics of invested assets on both a GAAP and a statutory basis, internal management reporting and preparation of statutory footnotes and investment schedules.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Specific tasks include:
Monitoring NAIC designations to make sure STAT reports are in compliance with NAICGather required documents for NAIC filings and submit the filing on timeActively participate in NAIC and interested party discussions around exposure draftsUnderstand GAAP and statutory guidance to provide assistance on the implementation of new accounting standards and investment strategiesAssist in monthly close of investment results for The Hartford including reconciliations between the investment accounting platform, the investment sub-ledger and the general ledger.Prepare analytics for senior management explaining primary drivers of movementsPreparation and analysis of investment sections of statutory statements, disclosures, and supplements.Support Sarbanes documentation and continuously monitor internal controlsDrive automation improvements and projects, including standardized variance analysis, utilizing the TM1 application and other platformsOwnership over the creation of various internal monthly and quarterly management reporting tools and metricsWHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION?
GAAP and/or STAT accounting and reporting experienceFamiliarity with investment reporting standards and ability to apply knowledge in the preparation of investment disclosures and Stat schedulesBachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required, CPA a plusBig Four experience a plus2 -5 years of accounting, reporting or finance experienceStrong analytical, communication, and documentation skillsAbility to react and successfully balance multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced work environment under strict time constraintsProven track record of taking initiative to research and resolve issuesAble to work both independently and as part of a teamProficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint required, TM1, Wdesk , Sovos, and Copilot is a plusAbout the Firm:

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
