Job DescriptionThe Financial Information Systems team is hiring a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will report to a Senior Manager within Expeditors corporate headquarters (CHQ) accounting in Seattle, WA.
Financial Information Systems partners with the business and information technology (IT) departments at Expeditors to achieve the continuous modernization of Expeditors internally developed accounting systems. The team is responsible for providing accounting systems support as well as deploying system and business process changes to accounting users worldwide.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Expeditors offices worldwide with accounting process and accounting system related questions.Manage user service requests received in the CA ServiceNow application.Assist in worldwide administration of accounting systems & processes. For example: General Ledger maintenance, Reference Data maintenance, Accounting Profile maintenance, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, Tax Invoicing, Sales Commissions, Concur T&E, etc.Assist with user acceptance testing of accounting system enhancements and changes.Help with the release of the accounting systems updates and the related training to users.Work with IT to identify and resolve system problems and inconsistencies.Document and maintain accounting system process maps and workflows.Maintain internal accounting related content on SharePoint, Insight, etc.Assist with the training of country controllers and accounting staff worldwide as necessary.Complete certain financial reconciliations.Contribute to standardizing accounting processes and procedures.Continuously strive to improve the accounting support process and end user experience.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Experience and Education:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.BA/BS in Accounting or Business Administration.3+ years of experience in accounting or related field.Fluent in English (spoken/written).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong customer service orientation.Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation).Proven ability to work well on teams and individually.Extremely well-developed attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities & projects.Ability to handle ambiguity and complex situations.Ability to learn new skills and software applications.Strong work ethic.Desired Experience and Education:
Experience managing large data sets.Experience with data visualization tools.Experience with Power Pivot and Power Query.Experience with SQL, MongoDB, Python, etc.Understanding of agile software development.Additional InformationJob type: Full-time. Expeditors has an in-office working policy and offers 26 days of working from home per year.
