Senior Accountant

TITLE:  Senior Accountant

LOCATION:  Westchester, IL

REPORTS TO:  Manager, Accounting Controller

Primary Function

Responsible for the monthly close of the corporate ledger, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations. Responsible for financial statement analysis of the Corporate segment, including the holding companies.  Oversight of and responsibility over multiple technical accounting areas.

                  

Key Deliverables

Monthly Corporate Close  of the General Ledger– Assist in the monthly close process by preparing monthly journal entries for the Company’s corporate entity, including preparation of account reconciliations for complex transactions including stock- based compensation and pension.Stock-based Compensation – Prepare the monthly/quarterly accounting Journals for stock-based compensation.  Prepare the accounting for the annual award vesting.  Be a significant contributor in the preparation of the annual award grants memo and all the related accounting.  Prepare the quarterly weighted average share calculation.Lease Accounting (Center of Excellence)– Oversee the management of the global lease accounting subledger. This includes building an understanding of the accounting guidance and software for leases, to ensure proper accounting. This role is expected to be a go-to resource for global affiliates to understand the impact of new, modified and terminated leases on their financial statements.Pension Accounting – Prepare the annual pension accounting for the US and CAN ledgers, including preparation of the journal entries, reconciliations and SEC 10-Q and 10-K footnote disclosures. Pension Annual Audits – Prepare the annual Pension Plan Asset audited financial statements for US and CAN.  Coordinate the audits with the auditors, prepare all required deliverables and ensure that report deadlines are met.Intercompany Transactions – Record intercompany activity for dividends, capital injections, loans, and interest and ensure proper accounting of foreign currency transactionsAssist with ad hoc accounting requests, as needed

Agility and Innovation

Assist in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure all required reporting is timely and accurateContinue to build the Lease COE, including identifying process improvements and providing global training, as neededWork to continually improve efficiency of internal processes and update procedural documentation, as needed

Relationships and People 

Develop and maintain relationships with third party consultants, business partners across the company, including affiliate finance personnel, Corporate FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Global Shared ServicesWork with accounting personnel from domestic and foreign affiliates to resolve issues in a timely mannerTrain and develop new staff in the department, as needed 

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:  

Bachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA preferredSEC/XBRL reporting background a plus3-5 years of experience in accounting related roleSignificant relevant experience in fast paced accounting departmentDemonstrate ability to prepare and analyze financial statementsProficient in monthly general ledger closing process and consolidationsExperience with Pension, leases, and share based compensation a plusProficiency in the Microsoft OfficeExperience with Lease Accelerator a plusExperience with SAP and BPC a plusForeign language – Spanish a plus

Pay Range:

$98,800.00-$131,733.33 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
