POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of the finance team, the Senior Accountant reports to the US Controller and is responsible for recording the accounting entries in the General Ledger (G/L), driving the timely preparation of financial statements, reviewing and monitoring internal controls, preparation and analysis of departmental spend through the budget process, reporting and communicating financial results to appropriate levels within the organization, and identify and implement opportunities to simplify processes and procedures. The Senior Accountant supports the US Controller as well as the broader leadership team to achieve Division goals and objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Reporting

Recording accounting entries in the G/L (banks, purchases, sales, accruals…)Direct preparation of financial statements, business reports, annual budgets and/or reports required by corporate and/or regulatory agenciesEnsure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end closeEffectively communicate and coordinate the exchange of financial information to key stakeholdersAdditional planning & reporting requests as required

Financial Records & Internal Controls

Manage compliance to accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statementsUnderstand and apply ITW financial policies consistently and effectivelyEnsure that complete and accurate financial records and strong internal controls are in place and being followedCreate, update, and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation to support consistency, compliance, and training within the accounting departmentDocument and monitor internal controls. Ensures that transactions are recorded in an efficient and timely mannerCoordinate internal and external audits as well as other corporate requests

Financial Analysis / Continuous Improvement

Analyze the financial details of past, present and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is neededPerform analytical reviews of data and explain variances against plan, outlook and prior yearMonitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracyAct as a key contributor in the upcoming ERP implementation project, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data migration, efficient workflows, and effective system adoption.Apply ITW Principles (80/20, Product Line Simplification, Segmentation, In-lining, and Market Rate of Demand) to eliminate complexity and improve profitability of the companyAdditional analysis requests as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred4+ years of accounting experience including general and cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding and application of accounting principles/practicesAbility to demonstrate a strong analytical and inquisitive mindsetMust be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines as requiredExperience with P&L and Balance Sheet reportingWorking knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office software skillsStrong presentation and communication skillsLimited travel requirements

Compensation Information:

The salary range for this position is $95,000 – $115,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location (this range is for successful candidates in the Chicago, Illinois metro area), and may fall outside of the posted range in certain circumstances.
