We meet those demands by offering cost-effective minimal packaging responsive to environmental concerns. **POSITION SUMMARY** As a key member of the finance team, the Senior Accountant reports to the US Controller and is responsible for recording the accounting entries in the General Ledger (G/L), driving the timely preparation of financial statements, reviewing and monitoring internal controls, preparation and analysis of departmental spend through the budget process, reporting and communicating financial results to appropriate levels within the organization, and identify and implement opportunities to simplify processes and procedures. The Senior Accountant supports the US Controller as well as the broader leadership team to achieve Division goals and objectives. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES** **_Financial Planning & Reporting_** + Recording accounting entries in the G/L (banks, purchases, sales, accruals…) + Direct preparation of financial statements, business reports, annual budgets and/or reports required by corporate and/or regulatory agencies + Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close + Effectively communicate and coordinate the exchange of financial information to key stakeholders + Additional planning & reporting requests as required **_Financial Records & Internal Controls_** + Manage compliance to accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements + Understand and apply ITW financial policies consistently and effectively + Ensure that complete and accurate financial records and strong internal controls are in place and being followed + Create, update, and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation to support consistency, compliance, and training within the accounting department + Document and monitor internal controls. Ensures that transactions are recorded in an efficient and timely manner + Coordinate internal and external audits as well as other corporate requests **_Financial Analysis / Continuous Improvement_** + Analyze the financial details of past, present and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed + Perform analytical reviews of data and explain variances against plan, outlook and prior year + Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy + Act as a key contributor in the upcoming ERP implementation project, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data migration, efficient workflows, and effective system adoption. + Apply ITW Principles (80/20, Product Line Simplification, Segmentation, In-lining, and Market Rate of Demand) to eliminate complexity and improve profitability of the company + Additional analysis requests as required **_Team Collaboration & Development_** + Helps people in the business understand how their decisions impact results + Coach through feedback, development planning and performance management + Provide training to new and existing staff and support them in their career goals + Use effective change management skills to effectively to plan, implement and evaluate change + Serve as a role model to other team members, develop and motivates peers + Demonstrates a drive to grow and succeed **JOB REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred + 4+ years of accounting experience including general and cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment + Strong understanding and application of accounting principles/practices + Ability to demonstrate a strong analytical and inquisitive mindset + Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required + Experience with P&L and Balance Sheet reporting + Working knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office software skills + Strong presentation and communication skills + Limited travel requirements **Compensation Information:** The salary range for this position is $95,000 – $115,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location (this range is for successful candidates in the Chicago, Illinois metro area), and may fall outside of the posted range in certain circumstances.
