Senior Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Charlottesville, Virginia. This position involves working within a dynamic environment, supporting key financial functions for property portfolios, including accounting, reconciliation, and reporting tasks. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in financial accounting and demonstrate proficiency in accounting software like SAP or Microsoft Dynamics. Responsibilities: • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for assigned property portfolios. • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all journal entries are completed on time. • Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, balance sheets, and credit cards. • Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) tasks, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies. • Conduct accrual accounting and maintain the general ledger with accuracy and attention to detail. • Generate financial reports and statements, providing insights to management and other stakeholders. • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. • Support audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries. • Utilize Yardi software for accounting tasks and portfolio management. • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of best practices. Requirements • Proven experience in property accounting, with strong knowledge of financial principles and practices. • Proficiency in accounting platforms. • Demonstrated expertise in month-end and year-end closing processes. • Solid understanding of accrual accounting and general ledger maintenance. • Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Strong skills in account reconciliation, including bank accounts, balance sheets, and credit cards. • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
