Job Description

This role involves assisting in preparing consolidation packages for financial reporting, supporting inventory cycle counts, administering equipment inventory, and preparing financial information for audits.

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager/Controller, provide financial analytical assistance and oversight to accounting functions.

Assist in preparing the consolidation package for financial reporting to Sanyo Denki Corporation (SDC or parent).Support daily inventory cycle counts, as well as semi-annual and annual physical inventory count procedures.Administer equipment inventory, including the following tasks:Ensure that all equipment is properly added (tagged), transferred, and/or disposed of.Conduct annual equipment inventory.Reconcile the master equipment list at year-end, including preparation of depreciation reconciliation journal entries.Prepare financial information and disclosures for the annual audit.Reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledger account balances for inventory, A/R, A/P, etc.Prepare monthly petty cash and bank reconciliations.Reconcile intercompany transactions on a monthly/quarterly basis.Perform monthly analysis of on-hand and slow-moving inventories.Conduct cost variance analysis.Analyze freight charges.Support compliance matters such as business license renewals, sales tax filings, annual report filings, and census reporting.Provide backup/support for accounting associate positions responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing A/P invoice entries, A/P payments, A/R cash receipts, and reconciling discrepancies.Assist the Accounting Manager in the preparation of the following financial tasks and events:Process all aspects of the monthly close of financial records, including balance sheet reconciliations.Monitor bank accounts to maintain appropriate cash balances and initiate book transfers as needed.Coordinate various audits, including but not limited to quarterly financial audits/reviews, year-end financial audits, SOX audits, and internal audits.Prepare various reports as requested by SDC on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including support in the preparation of the consolidation package.

Must Have Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 5 years of related work experience, or equivalent experience.Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end processes.Knowledge of fixed assets, balance sheets, and financial reporting.Experience in manufacturing, audit, SOX compliance, and cost accounting.Strong MS ExcelAdditional Skills:Experience with ERP systems - Sage 100 preferredAbility to work overtime, especially during month-end close/audits.Available to work on weekends or holidays when necessary.Ability to speak Japanese is a plus.Work Environment

This is an on-site position with the possibility of overtime, especially during month-end and year-end periods. The work environment is professional, requiring day-to-day contact with management and coworkers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
