Senior Accountant
Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with 5+ years of experience to join a dynamic and growing organization in Darien, Connecticut. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial operations, preparing financial statements, and supporting key business decisions through accurate financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively. Key Responsibilities + Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards. + General Ledger Management: Oversee and manage the general ledger to ensure entries are accurate and reconciliations are completed in a timely manner. + Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses. + Month-End & Year-End Close Processes: Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timelines are met and all journal entries are properly completed. + Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements, including preparation of tax filings and regulatory submissions. + Accounts Reconciliation: Perform detailed account reconciliations, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets. + Internal Controls: Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve processes to enhance efficiency and ensure SOX compliance (if applicable). + Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Train and mentor junior accounting team members while collaborating cross-functionally with other departments like FP& A, Payroll, and Treasury to achieve organizational goals. Requirements Required Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is preferred. + A minimum of 5+ years of professional accounting experience, including work in general ledger and financial reporting roles. + Strong knowledge of GAAP and other applicable financial regulations. + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas, etc.). + Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP). + Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-department collaboration. Preferred Qualifications + Experience working in the manufacturing, retail, or service industries is a plus. + Previous experience with forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling. + Prior public accounting or audit experience strongly preferred. + Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and technology changes.
