Description Our client in the Galleria area is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis. This role is 100% onsite and will work normal business hours. Key Responsibilities: + Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with GAAP and industry regulations + Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage operating budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning for oil and gas reserves and projects + Revenue Recognition: Ensure proper accounting for revenue cycles related to exploration, production, and royalties unique to the oil and gas industry + Tax Compliance and Regulations: Handle tax filings, including federal, state, and industry-specific reporting requirements, like severance taxes and property taxes + Asset and Cost Management: Oversee accounting for fixed assets, including depreciation, ARO (Asset Retirement Obligations), and impairments for pipeline systems and rigs + Audit Support: Assist internal auditors and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with SOX regulations and other industry-specific financial audits. Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have the following experience: Qualifications: + Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred. + Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience in the oil and gas industry required. + Proficient understanding of upstream, midstream, and downstream accounting practices. + Advanced knowledge of accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics preferred. + Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and in-depth understanding of financial modeling and reporting. + Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
