Description
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with expertise in cost accounting to join their dynamic finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, analyzing production costs, and leading efforts to improve cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting
+ Perform detailed cost analysis, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and work-in-process (WIP) assessments to provide insights into production costs and profitability.
+ Oversee the development and maintenance of cost accounting systems and processes to ensure accuracy in tracking and reporting manufacturing expenses.
+ Analyze and report on cost drivers, material usage, and labor efficiency, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
+ Reconcile inventory accounts monthly and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, finished goods, and WIP inventories.
General Accounting
+ Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
+ Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
+ Provide support for internal and external audits by coordinating documentation and responding to inquiries.
+ Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records and partner with various departments to ensure alignment.
Budgeting and Forecasting
+ Collaborate with operations teams to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and rolling projections specific to manufacturing costs.
+ Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual performance for manufacturing operations; explain variances and provide actionable recommendations.
Cross-functional Collaboration
+ Partner with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to implement effective cost-control strategies.
+ Provide financial guidance to business units and management, contributing to operational decision-making and long-term planning.
+ Support ERP system enhancements or implementations tied to cost accounting and inventory management.
Requirements
Key Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation highly preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment focused on cost accounting.
+ Technical Skills: Proficient in cost accounting principles, inventory reconciliation, and variance analysis. Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
+ Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of standard costing, GAAP, and best practices in manufacturing accounting.
