Kforce has a client in Bethesda, MD that is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team within a fast-paced construction environment. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, overseeing job cost accounting, and supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, a strong understanding of GAAP, and the ability to work cross-functionally with project managers, finance, and operations. Key Responsibilities: * Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations * Oversee job cost accounting and track project-related expenses, ensuring accuracy in cost allocations * Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding and reporting of all transactions * Prepare and analyze financial statements, job profitability reports, and budget-to-actual comparisons * Support project managers with cost tracking, billing schedules, and revenue recognition * Monitor and reconcile WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules monthly * Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual audits and liaise with external auditors * Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements * Manage AP/AR functions as needed, including subcontractor and vendor payments * Support the Controller with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting * Evaluate current accounting practices and make process improvement recommendations
