The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Senior, Metallurgist – Metallurgy (232540).
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent – Metallurgy, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of metallurgical systems across the Porgera process plant. This includes leading technical projects, supporting plant performance, and mentoring the metallurgy team.
In this role, you will:
Support production, recovery, utilization, and cost targets in collaboration with Metallurgy and Operations Superintendents Oversee and optimize plant operations including Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Acid Pressure Oxidation (4 autoclaves), and Oxygen Plants Provide technical guidance and mentoring to metallurgists and operational staff Drive continuous improvement through performance analysis, troubleshooting, and process optimization Lead and execute capital and improvement projects using formal project management systems Contribute to change management processes and ensure alignment with operational priorities Maintain accurate metallurgical accounting, reagent usage tracking, and reporting systems Collaborate with operations, Mining, Geology, and Maintenance teams for production planning Champion health and safety practices through visible, felt leadership and adherence to site standardsAbout you

Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering 1–3 years’ experience at a senior metallurgist level in gold processing Proven ability to mentor team members and build technical capability Project management and business improvement experience Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on plant performance and reliability Proficiency in metallurgical accounting, forecasting, and budgeting Familiarity with hazardous chemical handling, storage, and procurement processes Professional membership (e.g. AusIMM, SME, IEPNG) is desirable incident investigations.
