You Are:

We are seeking a skilled Power-On Lab Technician to support server assembly, inventory management, rack setup, board rework, and power-on procedures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in server debugging and troubleshooting hardware components to ensure smooth operational functionality.

 

 

The opportunity:

·       Server Assembly & Setup: Assemble, configure, and integrate server components, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

·       Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records for components, ensuring availability and tracking of lab equipment.

·       Rack Setup & Installation: Physically set up and organize servers in racks, ensuring correct cable management and power connections.

·       Board Rework: Perform rework and modifications on server boards as needed, including soldering and replacing components.

·       Power-On Testing: Execute initial power-on procedures to validate system readiness, identifying and resolving hardware issues.

·       Server Debugging: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system errors, failures, and hardware malfunctions efficiently.

·       Lab Maintenance & Safety Compliance: Follow lab protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and adhere to safety standards.

·       Technical Documentation: Record troubleshooting steps, issues encountered, and resolutions to support future debugging efforts.

 

 

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

 

What you need:

·       Education: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (preferred).

·       Experience: Proven experience in server assembly, debugging, inventory management, and hardware troubleshooting.

·       Technical Skills: Strong understanding of server components, BIOS, firmware, and hardware configurations.

·       Ability to debug hardware failures and perform rework on server boards.

·       Knowledge of rack setup, power connections, and system initialization.

·       Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

·       Effective communication and documentation skills.

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

·       Preferred Qualifications:

·       Familiarity with test tools, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic equipment.

·       Experience handling enterprise-grade server components.

·       Certification in hardware troubleshooting or server technologies is a plus.

 

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Texas

Compensation Range: $56,400-$84,600

 

 

 

 

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
