Job Responsibilities:Contact patients with past-due balances to coordinate timely payment and offer support in understanding financial obligations.
Assist patients in setting up payment plans that align with their financial circumstances while ensuring optimal collection outcomes.
Make 50–100 outbound calls daily (as assigned) to follow up on outstanding self-pay accounts, while documenting each interaction accurately.
Respond to incoming calls from patients and internal staff regarding account balances, payment options, and billing statements.
Review and research outstanding account balances to provide accurate information to coworkers and other departments when questions arise.
Update patient records with corrected addresses and relevant contact information based on returned mail reports and internal reviews.
Document all communication and account activity clearly and thoroughly in the practice management system.
Initiate collection letters and escalate delinquent accounts to external collection agencies when appropriate, following established protocols.
Demonstrate independence and efficiency in carrying out daily responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness.
Contribute to the overall team effort by meeting departmental goals, supporting peers, and maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.
Position Qualifications:Minimum Required:
Five to seven (5-7) years’ experience within a collection agency or healthcare system setting.
Experience with computerized billing software, interpreting Insurance explanation of benefits, and superior Patient Customer service.
Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and CPT coding.
Preferred:
Degree within Communications or Business Management.
A minimum of two to three (2-3) years Patient Billing Experience.
