We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated **Seed Production Specialist** to join the Research and Development team in **Lubbock, Texas** . The specialist is an integral member of the multi-crop and cross-functional research center committed to supporting sorghum and cotton nursery operations.
**Please note: there is no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance provided for this role.
**What You'll Do:**
+ Manage crews through sorghum pollinations and hand harvest of sorghum and cotton.
+ Prepare and manage tissue sampling of sorghum and cotton.
+ Assist with seed shipments, ensuring proper protocols are followed and shipping demands are met in a timely manner.
+ Assist with the field management of the nursery plots, scouting for disease, pests, and weeds.
+ Manage crews during seed lab activities such as sorting and filling.
+ Learn company software to assist with planting, harvest, and shipping tasks.
+ Maintain an accurate inventory of seed storage.
+ Organize and summarize results of experiments, noting problem areas and recommending actions within standard procedures.
+ Supervise temporary employees, ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Maintain and improve the efficiency and safety of daily workplace operations.
+ Collect data and assess data quality.
+ Uphold Corteva Agriscience’s Core Values in all aspects of your work, serving as a role model for ethical and professional behavior.
+ Follow all safety policies and procedures provided by Corteva Agriscience and communicate any changes to the team.
+ Contribute to the joint success of all research groups at the Lubbock, Texas Research Center.
**What Skills You Need:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a science-related field, with 2-4 years of industry-related experience.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork, enhance a positive work environment, and develop strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
+ Strong experience and skills with computers and data management.
+ Demonstrated skills in leadership, operational safety, supervision, and time management.
+ Must be capable of working in varied ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time, and capable of lifting 50 pounds.
+ Desire to grow together, as the company is dynamic and always evolving.
+ Ability to work extended days and weekends at critical times of the season.
+ High level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
+ Attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
+ Self-motivation and ability to initiate and execute projects, improvements, decisions, and problem-solving.
+ Ability to work independently while setting high expectations.
