Job objectives and responsibilities

To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services to National Grid Grain

LNG in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.

Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the

customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the

contract.

To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.

 

 

Job objectives and responsibilities

· To supervise a team of trained personnel to provide a delivery of service that exceeds customer requirements

and therefore protecting our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services to the

National Grid site in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any

subsequent changes.

· Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the

customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the

contract.

· Operate professionally as one of the Security Account Management contacts for the National Grid Security

Office for all security matters ensuring service delivery and adequate, prompt response and actions to all on

site incidents.

· Fully and satisfactorily complete all training as agreed is necessary to ensure that you are fully conversant with

the site requirements, complying and maintaining benchmark competency and skill set levels.

 

Main duties

Operations

· To assist the Security Account Manager in the control of all security operations in compliance with all statutory,

Customer and contractual requirements.

· Work in partnership with the National Grid Management, ensuring that the correct procedures are implemented

as detailed in the AI's.

· Carry out Patrols as required by the Security Account Manager and the Customer to detect and prevent criminal

activity and hostile reconnaissance and to increase/decrease the visible deterrent commensurate to the threat

· Responsible for ensuring that the out of hour's appropriate contact is informed in the event of any emergencies.

· Follow the set procedure for loss/found/theft/damaged, vandalised or insecure and report.

· Carry out routine tests of security equipment as directed by Customer.

· To adopt a ‘hands on' approach by carrying out the regular duties as conducted by the Security Officers.

· Fully understand the use of all the I.T. systems and monitor the correct application of the National Grid Systems.

 

Administration

· Provide accurate and timely information for the preparation of all reports as required.

· Institute appropriate follow up procedures continuously monitoring, analysing and improving current

procedures.

· Maintain logbooks, records, and report sheets as laid out in the Assignment Instructions.

· Maintain Accident Book for MITIE TSM Employees and ensure all details are forwarded to the Site Manager.

· Work closely with the Security Reception Team to ensure all contractors and visitors are received and processed

in a timely and professional manner

 

Site Manning

· Assist in the Planning of shifts with the Security Account Manager to ensure site manning is in line with

contracted levels, using regular shift patterns worked by trained, qualified staff.

· Arrange standby and replacement SO's when required from within the team, if available, and report in a timely

manner to the Site Manager any forthcoming manning issues

· Liaise when necessary with other Shift Supervisors for exchange of SO's as directed by the Security Account

Manager.

 

Staff Supervision and Training

· Provide motivation, encouragement, training and development to all staff, permanent and cover.

· Monitor and control staff performance in relation to their achievements of core competencies and skill sets

addressing any training issues and reporting them to the Training Coordinator .

· To address all on site staffing issues where possible i.e. Dress, lateness, minor disciplinary issues in line with

MITIE policies and procedures

· Maintain consistent disciplinary standards, ensuring the correct procedures are followed and all records and

report sheets are maintained and kept up to date.

· To step up to Security Account Manager role when required i.e. in times of sickness, absence, holiday and

operational requirements if there is the absence of the Training Coordinator.

· To supervise and carry out all additional duties as required by Security Account Management and the Customer

(National Grid)

· To support the Security Account Manager and DPTC in the training and up-skilling of all staff

· To manage a professional and accurate handover to ensure all of the Team is correctly briefed, clothed and

deployed to position knowing their duties, timings, inclement conditions, upcoming operational requirements

and what management support is available to them

· To ensure that all deployed Security Staff are correctly and professionally administrated

· To assist Security Account Manager in the running of all drills, alarm procedure tests, crash-outs.

· To escalate all issues in line with MITIE disciplinary procedures to ensure commensurate authority at all relevant

levels

· Assist the Security Account Manager and DP&TC Officer in ensuring contractual training is completed and

procedures understood and recorded of all staff. · Identify subsequent training needs and ensure employees are trained to the required standard as agreed with National Grid. Health and Safety · Record and report to Customer all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices. · Enforce health and safety procedures with SOs. Fisrt Aid · Respond to calls to first aid and administer treatment or summon medical help in accordance with National Grid Health & Safety Procedures. · Report shortfalls in contents of first aid boxes to National Grid if applicable. Fire and Emergencies · Ensure that all emergency procedures are understood by all staff and adhered to at all times. · Understand and be able to carry out the role required in emergency situations. · During patrols ensure emergency escape routes are kept free from obstruction. Report any obstruction to the facilities department for clearance Equipment · Ensure efficient and economical use of equipment and supplies, and report faults to Customer. Secondary Accountabilities To carry out any other responsibilities as directed by the Security Account Manager.

 

Person Specification

· SIA Guarding / Door Supervisors Licence / CCTV Licence

· Previous security experience

· Good people management skills/capability

· Able to communicate well with both internal and external customers thereby offering excellent customer service

· Excellent verbal and written skills and experience of accurate report writing

· Competent Computer literacy and understanding of IT needs and compliance

· Willingness to work in potentially arduous weather conditions for long periods whilst maintaining the

professional integrity and performance of your Team.

Health and Safety responsibilities

· Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

· Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service

delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

· Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

· Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;

 

Information Security

· Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;

· Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;

· Report actual and suspected security incidents;
